Project 1-Skeletal Construction : A Shelter For One
In this project, me and my groupmates are required to construct a small shelter which will be able to sustain a 60kg person. Besides that, we have to demonstrate the construction of the joints too. We have picked the wood as our main material. All the woods that we used in this project are reused wood. Throughout this project, I am able to apply construction system into the design. Moreover, I am able to recognize the implication of construction system in design too. Last but not least, I have managed to analyse the issues of strength, stiffness and stability of structures including modes of structural systems, forces, stress, strain and laws of static.
Building Construction 2
Project 2-Understanding Forces in Solid Structure and Surface Structure
For this project, me and groupmates are required to choose a building which is constructed in at least two constructions systems. The building that we have choosen is London Olympic Stadium. The construction of the building involved skeletal and solid structure construction. From this project, I am able to identify the basic structural systems in construction. Besides, I am able to differentiate skeletal, solid and surface construction systems in terms of loads and forces acting on structural elements. Furthermore, I can recognize and apply the implications of construction system in design. Lastly, I have managed to analyse the issues of strength, stiffness and stability of structures including modes of structural systems, forces, stress, strain and laws of static.
